Academic Career

Dr. Ken Begg at work in the Medical Research Council lab, Edinburgh

July 2021

It seems that the Covid 19 pandemic has stimulated an unexpected interest in the work of writers who use medical science as the basis of their fiction. Although it is widely reported that Ken has a background in medical research, not much detail has been included in websites covering his work. It appears that readers have been doing their own research about this – searching online for his scientific publications – and coming up with a blank. There is a simple explanation for this. Ken McClure is a pen name used exclusively for his thrillers. His real name, Ken Begg, appears on academic publications. Accordingly, a list of these is now attached to end possible conspiracy theories. That’s his job.
